SEASON TICKETS (ANNUAL WTN)
A season ticket (also called an annual waste transfer note) allows you to cover multiple transfers of the same non-hazardous waste over a period of up to one year, without completing a separate waste transfer note for each collection.
This is useful for regular, recurring waste collections from the same site, by the same carrier, for the same type of waste.
All of the following must remain the same throughout the season ticket period:
- The current holder of the waste (transferor)
- The waste carrier (transferee)
- The type of waste (EWC/LoW codes)
You may optionally record the collection site on the season ticket if it will be the same for all transfers.
You must also keep a separate schedule that records details of each individual waste transfer. The schedule must include:
- Date of each transfer
- Time of each transfer
- Quantity of waste (e.g. number of sacks, weight)
- Site where the transfer took place (if different sites or not on the season ticket)
You can record these details on a spreadsheet, or as part of your invoicing or weighbridge records.
You must keep your season ticket and schedule for 2 years after the last waste transfer covered by that season ticket.
Both documents must be produced on request to an enforcement officer from your local council or the Environment Agency.
